It is a busy season as we prepare for our resolution submission and the AGM this week.
We will be having our quarterly interest group meeting the following week, Wednesday June 17th at 7pm.
The meeting will be an opportunity to connect post AGM, debrief, review our activities over the last few months and to plan for the time ahead. Curious about learning more about ONEIG, possibly getting more involved? Join us!

We are sharing this urgent call to action from our friends at The David Suzuki Foundation.
On Thursday May 28 (this week!!) Toronto city council will vote on whether to extend the Bloor bike lane. This would create a safe cycling route all the way from Avenue Road to High Park.
We think this is a fabulous idea.
Around the world, cities are quickly building new bike lanes to allow for safe physical distancing. Now it’s Toronto's turn.
Please join us for a short chat about the issue of waste in our healthcare system, a problem that has been recognized in Canada and worldwide.

The Ontario government recently announced it will suspend public oversight and transparency in environmental decision-making during the COVID-19 emergency.
This change allows the government to push forward projects or laws that could significantly damage the environment without consulting or notifying the public.

This resolution brought together the work of the Council of Canadians, the David Suzuki Foundation, the United Nations and more to emphasize the need for RNAO's support for building healthy, equitable, and sustainable water regulations and systems.

Environmental Defence is organizing a Climate Day of Action on Friday April 17th. It will be geared towards local Ontario MPPs, and the organization will be working with local groups to set up actions in their communities across Ontario. This will be an opportunity to call for stronger climate action during the lead up to Earth Week, building on the momentum of climate strikes and other events.

Access to safe water and sanitation for all is essential to life and a matter of environmental and social justice. Unfortunately, there are over 100 drinking water advisories in First Nations across Canada and no national strategy to address urgent water issues.
The COVID-19 pandemic compounds harms of historically marginalized communities. Our collective recovery must build stronger, healthier communities, including healthy environmental public policy that challenges structural inequities, including environmental racism.
We need our governments to take immediate, future-minded action now to ensure the foundational conditions for human health and wellbeing are sustained for generations to come.
