Greening the Healthcare System: Focus on Waste

Posted on May 20, 2020, 8:14 p.m.

Please join us for a short chat about the issue of waste in our healthcare system, a problem that has been recognized in Canada and worldwide.

ZOOM Discussion: May 26th from 1200-1300 (EST)

ONEIG members have told us that the problem of healthcare waste must be a priority. The plan for our chat will  be to introduce the issue of waste in healthcare and discuss how we might move forward as both an RNAO interest group AND as individual nurses. Join us to connect with fellow nurses and help us move forward as we advocate for a healthy environment!

*If you end up unable to make it, no problem! But you still need to register to be ready with the Zoom details.

No preparation is needed, but if you'd like to learn more about waste in the healthcare system, consider the following resources:

Webinar from the Canadian Coalition for Green Healthcare: https://greenhealthcare.ca/circular_economy/
World Health Organization Fact Sheet: https://www.who.int/topics/medical_waste/en/

P.S. "The Story of Plastic" is a documentary that dives into the great problem of plastic pollution and is currently being virtually 'screened' by ONEIG. There are limited 'tickets', however, so be sure to use the emailed link (or email oneigrnao@gmail.com if you have not received it) soon if you're interested!

Looking forward to talking with you next week!
