Hello fellow OPANA members,

I am happy to announce that the Ontario PeriAnesthesia Nurses Association (OPANA) will have a virtual fall symposium on Oct. 22, 2022 from 9 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. ET. The theme is Refresh, Renew and Refocus.

The symposium will be an excellent opportunity to refresh our perianesthesia knowledge. Continuing education hours will be granted. The cost is $10 for OPANA members and $40 for non-OPANA members. Please register at https://www.opana.org/conference/.

Here is a reminder that our National Association of PeriAnesthesia Nurses of Canada will be holding their annual AGM this upcoming Saturday, September 17th, starting at 1130am. 

The educational presentation will be:

Hi Everyone,

For the past year perianesthesia nurses have been asked to do a variety of jobs outside of their regular role and they have not only been up to the task, but also highly valued in many ways.  Perianesthesia nurses have been added to ICU teams, floated out to many different surgical and medical units. We have been giving injections at COVID-19 vaccine centres, collecting samples at assessment centres, and have become PPE experts. All of this while holding down the fort in preop clinics, surgical admissions, PACU and surgical day cares.

Dear OPANA members,

We have had a few changes to our Symposium Agenda due to unforeseen scheduling difficulties.  Added to the agenda is "Preparing the Bariatric Patient for Surgery" and "Cannabis and the PeriAnesthesia Patient".  We hope the change in presentations is also of interest to our members-there will also be a great opportunity to have an Open Mic session of Questions and Answers.
