PCNIG student program: Palliative Care is Every Nurse’s Business

Posted on Jan. 27, 2022, 4:28 p.m.

Dear PCNIG Student Members,

When you ticked that box back in the fall for your free student membership to the Palliative Care Nurses Interest Group, little did you know you were also signing up for this great opportunity!

The scope of palliative care is often misunderstood in the healthcare system. Palliative care is more than end of life care. “Palliative care is specialized medical care for people living with a serious illness. Palliative care is based on the needs of the patient, not on the patient’s prognosis. It is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness, starting from diagnosis. It can be provided along with curative treatment with the goal of improving quality of life for both the patient and the family.” (https://getpalliativecare.org/whatis/)

So no matter what nursing role you play in your career, palliative care is likely to be part of it.

We have created the PCNIG student program “Palliative Care is Every Nurse’s Business”. It is an engaging panel of experts to help you to better understand the scope of palliative care. The program will be delivered to you absolutely free!

How it works: Beginning in the last week of February, you will receive weekly videos to watch and a short reflection to complete. Once you have completed the 5 sessions, you will be awarded a certificate that you can add to your resume. Completion of the program also entitles you to deep discounts on another program we are planning to run in May/June. More on that one later!

If you are ready to sign up for this free certificate program, please go to shorturl.at/gjFX2 to fill out the form. We look forward to having you in the program!

 Warmly,

 PCNIG Executive
