We will have dinner, some opportunities for updates and networking and an opportunity to hear from members of our own executive about practice issues we all deal with everyday.
Please join us for a talk about grief in long-term care (LTC) by Mahoganie Hines, Palliative Pain and Symptom Management Consultant and the PCNIG President, and Celina Carter, RN, Research Scientist, and the PCNIG social media ENO. Grief is under supported in most settings, particularly in LTC. The prevalence of grief for both residents and nurses will be discussed as well as why it is an important topic to discuss. We will talk about evidence-informed strategies nurses can use to support grief in LTC care such as memorializing, storytelling, and taking time and space for reflection. The role of nursing research in generating palliative care knowledge will also be highlighted.
