Each year, from August 1 to 7, World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated around the world to raise awareness of the importance and need for breastfeeding. The World Health Organization recognizes breastmilk as the best source of nutrition for infants, but breastfeeding can be a challenging, confusing, and overwhelming experience. As pediatric nurses, having knowledge about breastfeeding can help us better support breastfeeding individuals and babies in various pediatric settings. Keri Durocher is a Registered Nurse and one of our PedNIG communication officers.

In this Pediatric Nursing Hot Topics episode, PedNIG execs Dylan Ferguson, Courtney Houldsworth, and Chantal Singh talk about “What You Need to Know About Working in the NICU.” Dylan is a new graduate nurse and recently completed a 4 month consolidation in the NICU. Courtney started her nursing career in the NICU at Sick Kids, and is currently the Clinical Nurse Educator for the NICU and Paediatrics at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. Chantal is currently the Clinical Educator for the NICU at LHSC Children’s Hospital.
