The start of the 2021 PedNIG Symposium is only weeks away! We look forward to presenting the 2021 symposium as a virtual web series featuring the latest knowledge and innovation in paediatric care! Presentations will be released on a weekly basis between September 20, 2021, and October 11, 2021.
As part of the content released in week 1 of the series, we will be featuring a guest presentation by Lorraine Sunstrum-Mann entitled Community based paediatric complex care program in Durham Region: Bringing care closer to home. Lorraine Sunstrum-Mann joined Grandview Children’s Centre as CEO in 2011.
Lorraine began her career as an early childhood educator working with children with special needs. This work fueled an interest in a career in nursing. A nurse since 1988, Lorraine worked in a number of practice settings in a direct care role including general medical, trauma, neurosurgery and emergency. She began practicing in nursing administration in 1997 and held the role of Director of a Maternal Child Program from 2000-2005. Lorraine has held Director roles at Lakeridge Health and St. Michael's Hospital. She was a member of the Senior Leadership Team of Lakeridge Health as Vice President of Professional Practice and Chief Nurse Executive.
Lorraine holds a diploma in Early Childhood Education for the Developmentally Handicapped (Humber College), a diploma in Nursing (Durham College), a Bachelor of Arts - Health Studies (York University) and a Master of Business Administration (Heriot-Watt University). Lorraine completed the Public Sector Leadership Institute at Rotman University of Toronto in 2013.
Between 2000 and 2006, Lorraine served on the Durham College and University of Ontario Institute of Technology Governing Boards including as Chair from 2004-2006. Lorraine currently sits as a Director of Sloane's House Paediatric Respite Facility.
