1. Anti-Human Trafficking by: Kelly Tallon, Founder and Chief Executive Director of Courage for Freedom
With Introduction from Racheal Radyk, Indigenous Nurses and Allies Interest Group Chair
Brief Objectives:
- Create specific modules for nurses who have some trauma-informed care experience and doctors also.
- Potential presentations and triggers in your care.
- Entrenched behaviors and how they can affect the capacity to communicate and professionals understanding of patients, information
- Safety for both patients and staff with respect to secondary persons and activities
- Protocols and procedures that may cause difficulty in system navigation for victims/survivors.
- Difference between support for domestic or partner violence victims and sex trafficking and sexual exploitation victims
- Making sense of what you are seeing, hearing, and sensing without giving you more work to do
2. Nurses and Forensic Psychiatric Review Board Hearings by: Jean-Laurent Domingue
Objectives:
- Review the functioning of the forensic psychiatric system, particularly how Review Board hearings operate.
- Understand and problematize the role of nurses in Review Board hearing processes
- Discuss the implications of the study’s results for the practice of nurses
3. Stress, Compassion Fatigue and Building Resiliency by: Mary-Lou Martin
Objectives:
- Describe stress, compassion fatigue and its relevance to resiliency.
- Describe the key components and process of building and fostering resiliency.
- Reflect on your own abilities, values and beliefs about the connection between resilience and well-being.
- Describe evidence-based ways to support resilience in yourself and other nurses in creating a healthy work culture.
