Hello Ontario Nurses for the Environment!

What's in this email:

  1. Scholarship - tell people to apply!
  2. Climate in Therapy - in-person event in Ottawa
  3. Resolution for 2026 RNAO AGM
  4. Greening Nursing School Community of Practice

-------

Scholarship - Deadline extended until Feb. 1

This is the fourth year of the Ontario Nurses for the Environment $1000 scholarship. This year we took it in-house rather than through an external partner. This allows us to save $100 in administration fees, but also create criteria that hopefully create more value for membership. The challenge with this is that it is less visible, so please tell all of your nursing student friends!

Please access the application via this weblink.

Climate in Therapy - Jan. 28 at 7 p.m., St. Paul University in Ottawa

If you live in or around Ottawa, please come to "Climate in Therapy". It will feature the film and then be followed by a panel discussion featuring Carmen Hust, a nurse psychotherapist who also serves as a member-at-large on our executive team. Other speakers include Dr. Sehjal Bhargava, president-elect of CAPE, Dr. Meg Sears, Prevent Cancer Now, and Alex Stratas, a University of Ottawa student activist. Entry by donation to cover costs.

Please sign up in advance via this weblink.

2026 RNAO AGM Resolution

Every year, ONE tries to write a resolution for the RNAO AGM that will advance environmental justice or planetary health issues from within the nursing profession. Please view the proposed resolution for this year and send any comments to [email protected] before Jan. 25.

Greening Nursing School Community of Practice - Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. ET

Are you interested in helping green nursing schools? We hold bi-monthly meeting where nurses, faculty and nursing students from across Ontario, Canada and even internationally, come together to share ideas. Topics covered include reducing the environmental footprint through projects like Greening the Lab, plus finding ways of introducing planetary health and disaster management competencies to curricula.

Please join us.
