Your executive are thrilled about todays announcement from Minister Jones, the start of an investment into primary care. We were very happy to see this announcement took place in a family health team location in Peterborough.

Your executive will continue to advocate for primary care nurses with our government. Some of us will be at Queen's Park in February.

On Jan. 19, ten provincial community health care associations, spanning 1,300 member agencies, presented a joint submission to the Ministry of Finance as part of the 2024-25 budget consultation.

 “The community health workforce remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of Ontarians. However, in light of the rising cost of living, a sustainable approach to addressing the wage gap is critical in ensuring the continued delivery of safe and high-quality community health services.”

Patrick O'Byrne, one of the presenters at our 2022 biannual conference, has reached out to share an education opportunity next week.

It is an open virtual event on Tuesday, May 23 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. ET. There will be a clinical focus on when / how to test and when to offer HIV PEP and PrEP.

2. Updates from the Canadian Family Practice Nurses Association (CFPNA)

At the recent conference, some of you were not aware that there was an application for the Temporary Retention Incentive for Nurses (TRIN) program. This program is for primary care nurses employed by a physician. But, if you work for an organization such as a family health team (FHT) and have not been made aware of this program, please also apply.
