Bill 23 passed - Action Required

Posted on Dec. 2, 2022, 11:16 a.m.

Hello ONEIG members!

Bill 23 passed this week despite widespread outcry amongst diverse groups and voices. RNAO is part of the Ontario Climate Emergency Campaign (see this clip of the Monday press conference) and we join them in calling out for action to protect the ecological determinants of health that are under threat by this bill.

What you can do:

1) THIS WEEKEND: OCEC signatory Environmental Defence has organized this map of rallies this weekend of action! Join if you can and spread the word!

2) Write to your local papers or the Environmental Registry of Ontario. Make a submission regarding the proposed amendments to the Greenbelt Plan at ERO 019-6216 by Sunday December 4

3) If you haven't already, sign the Action Alert by RNAO!

Other notes:  ONEIG is focusing on biodiversity in December with both co-chairs headed to Montreal. We will be meeting with other nurse leaders and participating in a march for biodiversity. Please join us for our Quarterly Meeting on December 5th (7-8:30pm) with Dr. Ann Patterson (behavioural ecologist), trivia, and to connect with your ONEIG team. Register NOW!

In solidarity,

Rob and Josalyn
