Hello ONEIG,
Our quarterly meeting is coming up on December 5th at 7pm. The theme is the loss of biodiversity as it coincides with day 1 of the UN COP biodiversity conference in Montreal. We will be discussing how biodiversity is connected with human health, nursing and political action.
The first 30 minutes will be an interactive trivia game on the subject, then we will have a Dr. Ann Patterson, a behavioural ecologist, speak for 20 min followed by 10 min of Q+A. We will be finishing with 30 minutes of ONEIG business highlighting our work, possible actions and future projects/events.
Up-coming events:
On January 22nd at 5pm, ONEIG will be collaborating to host a webinar on eco-anxiety and eco-grief. Dr. Gili Adler Nevo, Head of Child & Adolescent Anxiety Clinic at Michael Garron Hospital, will be speaking. Mark your calendars and be on the lookout for a registration link email sometime in early January.
In February, we are planning to discuss active transportation in the winter. Active transportation infrastructure has huge advocacy possibilities and huge public health implications - exercise good, pollution bad! Long term benefits to heart, lung, metabolic diseases and cancers! A winter bike maintenance skill share will be part of the event. Stay tuned for more details!
