- Wonderful news! "Toronto City Council voted 23-1 to create a protected bike lane on Yonge (from Bloor to Davisville). It will be the city’s first safe cycling infrastructure to connect downtown to midtown – a crucial step in creating a city-wide network!! Thanks so much for your support on our cycling campaigns. Having health professionals’ endorsement was crucial to our success." (Gideon Forman, Climate Change and Transportation Policy Analyst, David Suzuki Foundation)
- April 22nd is Earth Day!
- April 19th to 25th is Fashion Revolution Week
- Fashion Revolution Week was started as a response to the Rana Plaza disaster in 2013. Some of the aims of Fashion Revolution week are to:
- End the exploitation of humans and the environment in the global fashion industry
- End the throwaway culture and create a system where materials are used for a longer time, and materials are not wasted.
- Promote the conservation of precious resources and regenerate ecosystems
- Some exciting ways to take action:
- Sending an email or twitter message to a brand here.
- Take the #haulternative challenge- commit to refreshing your wardrobe without buying new clothes- from shopping secondhand, swapping with a friend, renting special pieces, DIY
