Hello members,
There is a significant change to your MHNIG membership, and we need your help! At our annual general meeting, more information was shared about the changes to our financial relationship with the Canadian Federation of Mental Health Nurses (CFMHN), and we're sharing them here as well for those who were not able to attend.
Our current MHNIG membership fee is $35. In the past, of this fee we would provide $20 per RN MHNIG member to the CFMHN, and MHNIG members would be eligible to sign up with the CFMHN for free. This would then leave $15 per RN member for the MHNIG.
While this ended up translating to a large discount for people who wanted to join both organizations, we saw that there was little take-up of this opportunity by our members broadly, representing an overall poor value of these funds for our membership. We came to a mutual agreement with the CFMHN to end this financial partnership, as it also created issues for their membership and logistical challenges.
We are in the process of creating a new partnership that would focus on non-financial support through cross promotion and potentially shared events. Once this is clarified and finalized, the specifics of this collaboration will be shared.
What does this mean for you, our valued MHNIG members?
- All of the current membership fee you pay is staying with MHNIG. This allows for new opportunities, like more events, new programs, more scholarships, etc.
-
There is a potential for a reduction in the fee for membership to this interest group.
Please stay tuned to your emails for a follow-up survey to provide any input on the information shared in this email.
Thank you,
MHNIG executive
