It's hard to believe the first month of 2019 is almost behind us.  With these chilly temperatures and snow filled days, it is the perfect time to work on your application for a CHNIG Award!  As part of your membership in CHNIG, you are eligible for financial support for professional development.

With the first month of 2019 almost wrapped up, we would like to remind our members that our application deadline for CHNIG Bursaries is approaching.

CHNIG is offering two bursaries to attend the below 2019 events:

Attention all CHNIG Members,

Applications are now being accepted for bursaries to attend:

1. Annual 2019 RNAO and CHNIG AGMs held at the Toronto Hilton April 12th - 13th, 2019.
2. 2019 National Community Health Nursing Conference: Harnessing the Power of Community Health Nursing held in Saint John, New Brunswick May 27th - 29th, 2019.

Deadline to submit an application(s): Friday, March 1st, 2019 at 1700h.

Successful applicants will be notified by March 25th, 2019.

Winter 2019 is in full swing and we would like to invite all CHNIG members to participate in our Professional Practice Committee meeting. Join us on Tuesday January 29, 2019 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

This is a dynamic time for nurses in community health.  There are many opportunities for nurses to influence the health care system locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally.  Share your community nursing updates with your provincial colleagues.

The Community Health Nurses of Canada (CHNC) is engaging in a Delphi process for community health nurses to come to a consensus on the revision of the Canadian Community Health Nursing (CCHN) Standards of Practice.  This work is being done under the direction of CHNC and in collaboration with the Canadian Indigenous Nurses of Canada (CINA) and the Canadian Family Practice Nurses Association (CFPNA).

Dear CHNIG members,

As an interest group advocating on issues that affect the work of Community Health Nurses and the public they serve, we would like our members to review the following the resolution on sexual education which will be brought forward at the RNAO Annual General Meeting in April 2019.  This resolution has been created in collaboration with the Rainbow Nursing Interest Group, Maternal Child Nurses' Interest Group, Pediatric Nurses Interest Group ​and the Sudbury & District Chapter.

Taking place on September 24^th-25^th, 2018 at the Holiday Inn Toronto Airport, the forum brings you 20+ speakers, with 10+ patient partners and caregiver speakers, 8 case studies and 10+ hours of networking and discussion packed with insights and strategies to build your toolkit.

Happy Nursing Week Everyone!

On behalf of the Community Health Nurses of Canada (CHNC) , we invite you to participate in the National Community Health Nursing Conference in Regina, Saskatchewan from June 26th - 28th, 2018.

This conference brings together individuals who have an interest in Community Health Nursing from practice, research, administration, policy and education.  It is a forum to explore issues of mutual concern as well as exchange knowledge, share evidence and ideas, and generate solutions.  Our goal is Advancing Community Health Nursing in Canada.

On behalf of Community Health Nurses’ Initiatives Group (CHNIG) Board, I would like to express my sincere wishes to all Community Health Nurses (CHNs) during the 2018 National Nursing Week. 

This year’s theme, "#YESThisIsNursing", describes nursing roles in community health as evolving at an exponential rate, especially with the proposed increases in scope of practice.
