Who we are… the Clinical Nurse Specialist Association of Ontario is an association of RNAO members or affiliates who are nurses committed to Advanced Nursing Practice.
History: The Clinical Nurse Specialist Interest Group was formed in 1977. It became an official interest group of RNAO on September 13, 1979. On April 28, 2012, we became the Clinical Nurse Specialist Association of Ontario (CNS Association of Ontario).
Purpose: We support the role of Advanced Nursing Practice in Ontario by:
- Providing opportunities for professional networking, support and problem-solving;
- Clarifying the CNS role within the nursing profession and among other health care professionals, providers and consumers;
- Promoting and defining advanced nursing practice;
- Addressing issues that affect clinical nursing practice and health care.
