Speaker bios

Patrick Dubsabimana: Patrick is a passionate health-care leader with clinical, administrative and project management experience. Patrick has an extensive education experience in Health Sciences and management, and is finishing up a master of science degree in project management with a strong focus of success of clinical projects in hospital settings. He worked as the surgical coordinator for organ transplantation with Ontario Health (based at TOH), then joined TOH to assume coordinator and clinical care leader roles. 

Today, Patrick works as manager of MRI, breast imaging and DMI operations within medical imaging. He is as an energetic, compassionate, and innovative leader. He is passionate about building an inclusive and equitable workplace as well as creating an environment of belonging for both staff and patients.

Lori Zozzolotto: Through leadership and involvement in several community networks and organizations, Lori advocates for and supports nurses and patients to live their best lives and works to achieve social change on many fronts. She started her nursing practice as a registered practical nurse (RPN), then bridged to RN and became designated as a wound, ostomy and continence nurse by the Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Canada (NSWOCC). Lori has been a nurse for more than 15 years and currently works as a clinical specialist for Convatec Canada. She is also the development officer at the Ontario Black Nurses’ Network, participates actively in the NSWOCC national diversity task force, and is a member of the steering committee of a 2SLGBTQI+ employment resource group that supports diversity in her workplace. Most recently, Lori co-founded an Ostomy Canada support group in her town to support ostomates.

Topics and learning objectives 

In this webinar we will continue to understand the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) work to create a sense of belonging. Patrick will discuss how incorporating DEI promotes an environment where everyone can grow and find opportunity. Lori will discuss the importance of conflict management and resolution for nurses.

As a participant, you can look forward to:  

  1. learning how we can continue forward through collective community action and support towards DEI in our communities and organizations, 
  2. learning how to identify and manage conflict, and
  3. understanding more about your rights in the workplace and finding out about tools and resources that can help you if dealing with workplace conflict.
