Good day members,
As we approach the end of the March and Spring is upon us, we have exciting events we will be hosting. We also had a very busy month of Feburary.
BNLC representing Black History Month:
To start off Black History Month, RNAO created a campaign about Black history month. Our very own Lori Zozzolotto (Chair), Dania Versalies (Board of Liason) Dwight Barrett (Communications ENO) Kaywana Malcolm (Membership ENO) and Dr. Claudette Hollway (Board of Liason) were interviewed as to why RNAO is important to them and how it is be a black nurse. Great work team!!!!

On Monday, Feb. 3, BNLC hosted a webinar with vice-president of the Canadian Nursing Association, Dr. Bukola Salami. This was an inspiring great webinar where Dr. Salami told us her life story and our success and also provided great advice! We thank you, Dr. Salami!
Black Excellence featuring Dr. Akeem Stewart
Continuing with the great excellence of Black nursing leaders, BNLC on Feb. 19 hosted another webinar featuring medical graduate Dr Akeem Stewart. Dr. Stewart provided such a great event where he talked about his journey going into medical school and graduating as well as his challenges he faced. We thank you, Dr. Stewart!
RNAO 25th-annual Queen's Park Day:
On Feb. 27 RNAO held their 25th-annual Queen's Park Day, where members of RNAO's board of directors and other members engage in policy and political action to advance nursing and optimize Ontario's health-care system. BNLC was there to represent and to help be a voice.
Upcoming events:
BNLC is excited to to be hosting upcoming events including some great webinars for nursing week as well as events such as "Fireside Chats" and other events as we approach RNAO's AGM. Stay tuned.
Strut Your Stuff!
Have you accomplished – or are you working toward – a major or minor goal? Has there been a recent event in your career or education that you are proud of? This is where you can strut your stuff! In each newsletter, BNLC features one or two members who have made their own accomplishments and goals. We believe that no matter how big or small your accomplishment was, it is needs to be recognized because we as community need should recognize and celebrate our own achievements. If you would like to be featured in our “Strut Your Stuff” please email us at blacknursesleadingchange@gmail.com with a brief note (one to two sentences) showcasing your achievement. We will feature this in our newsletter and on our social media platforms. Feel free to include a picture of yourself if desired.
