Mission
We are a group of health care professionals representing all health care sectors who lead, promote, and influence wound prevention and treatment of public policy for all citizens in our Ontario health care system.
Vision
To support Ontarians' right to access wound prevention and treatment, the Wound Care Nursing Interest Group will influence public policy related to the uptake and utilization of evidence-informed practice.
Goals
- Establish a network of colleagues interested in wound prevention and treatment across all health care sectors in Ontario.
- Promote evidence-informed practice in wound prevention and treatment in all health care sectors by facilitating access to best practice guidelines.
- Support access to timely and appropriate resources necessary for the prevention and treatment of wounds.
- Ensure education includes basic wound prevention and treatment in nursing core curricula.

The Wound Care Nursing Interest Group is a Provincial Interest Group of the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO). Our mandate is to amplify the collective voice of healthcare professionals who are committed to shaping public policy and advancing evidence-informed practices to improve wound prevention and treatment for all Ontarians.
We provide a strong, unified platform to ensure that clinical perspectives are meaningfully represented. Our work emphasizes inclusive engagement, ensuring that the voices of all members of the interdisciplinary team contribute to advocacy, dialogue, and system-level change.
The Wound Care Nursing Interest Group fosters respectful discussion, knowledge exchange, and coordinated action to advance wound care prevention and treatment across the entire continuum of care. Membership is open to RNAO members from all practice settings, including acute care, long-term care, chronic care, and community-based care.
