Develop a better understanding of the evidence-based recommendations identified within four mental health and substance use RNAO best practice guidelines (BPG) during our full-day workshop, hosted by Region 2. These guidelines will help health-care professionals build capacity and support practice when working with clients experiencing mental health or substance use challenges. The BPGs that will be presented are:

· how to use a trauma-informed approach for people in crisis
· engaging people who use substances
· how to avoid the use of restraints
Presentations will be made by nurses who have implemented RNAO's BPGs on the above topics into their practice.
Dear Members,
Unfortunately there has been very little interest in the December 5th LAP presentation, Understanding Violence & Harassment in the Workplace. I don't believe this is because of a lack of interest on the subject, but is more likely due to the business of the season. Therefore we will reschedule this event to another date in the New Year. Once a new date has been selected we will send another communication.

Please join us on Dec. 5, 2018, for a legal education presentation on the topic of violence and harassment in the workplace. This is an RNAO Middlesex Elgin Chapter event, sponsored by RNAO's Legal Assistance Program (LAP) and hosted by the Fanshawe College Nursing Program.
Middlesex-Elgin Chapter Members you are invited to attend a Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) Symposium on Nov. 6, 2018 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Festival Inn in Stratford (144 Ontario Street). This event is being hosted by Huron-Perth Chapter.
The evening will begin with dinner, followed by a presentation detailing the processes involved in MAID and will end with a question and answer period featuring a panel of health-care professionals from various disciplines who have participated in the process.
