Dear RNAO Ottawa Members,
AI is no longer “coming soon” to health care. It’s here, in documentation, workflow tools, decision support systems, and education.
The question is not if AI will impact nursing. The question is: How will nurses help shape how it evolves?
Join RNAO Ottawa (Region 10) in partnership with the Ontario Nursing Informatics Group (ONIG) for an engaging and timely virtual panel discussion:
Nursing in the Age of AI
- Thursday, April 9, 2026
- 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Virtual Event
This interactive panel will explore:
- What AI actually is and where it’s already impacting nursing practice
- Where AI can enhance care and where risks exist
- The growing burden of technological change on nurses
- The competencies nurses will need in the next 5–10 years
- How YOU can ensure nursing voices remain at the forefront of innovation
The session will begin with a brief overview of ONIG’s work and opportunities for engagement, followed by a dynamic moderated conversation featuring:
- Ryan Chan, assistant professor, Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing, Western University
- Mathieu LeBreton, director of digital experience for the New Campus Development and Biomedical Engineering at The Ottawa Hospital (TOH)
- Jacqueline Vlahos, director of professional practice and chief practice information officer (CPIO) at Halton Healthcare and ONIG education officer
Moderated by Jessica Ackerman, chair of Ontario Nursing Informatics Group
