Dear Nursing Student,
Welcome to the Nursing Students of Ontario (NSO)—a dynamic, student-led interest group within the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO). We’re excited to have you join a thriving community of over 7,500 nursing students across the province, all dedicated to shaping the nursing profession. At NSO, we are united by a shared passion for nursing, a commitment to advocacy, and the drive to amplify nursing student voices across all sectors. With your participation, our collective voice is strengthened – and together, we can lead purposeful change.
Building on the past successes of the NSO, we continue to expand our impact through collaboration with nursing students, nurses, and multidisciplinary partners. This year’s executive team aims to even further the impact of the NSO by focusing on all facets of social justice, nursing education reform, and building student capacity for leadership and advocacy. Our hopes are to better equip nursing students with the tools to succeed beyond the classroom and clinical setting. Throughout the year, we’ll be offering a range of opportunities to connect, learn, and grow together as a community. Keep an eye out for:
- Networking events and professional development webinars
- Collaborations with RNAO interest groups
- Workshops with a focus on Indigenous health, public policy, mental wellness and career readiness
- Student opportunities to assist with resolution planning and writing to help potentially drive NSO and RNAO’s strategic and lobbying efforts
We will also continue to build on the work that was introduced at RNAO’s AGM in May. Our newly launched Student Leadership Incubator, led by NSO members like you, is committed to finding meaningful solutions to the challenges faced by nursing students today.
As we embark on the 2025–2026 academic year, our goal is to make your experience with NSO and RNAO as engaging and rewarding. Be sure to stay connected by checking your email regularly and following us on social media.
If you have any questions, ideas, or would simply like to connect, don’t hesitate to reach out through the contact form on our website: https://chapters-igs.RNAO.ca/node/934
Wishing you a successful, inspiring school year—we look forward to supporting and celebrating you every step of the way.
Warm regards,
The 2025–2026 NSO Executive Team
