BNLC January Newsletter

Good day members, 

We are already the end of the first month of 2025 and BNLC already has done some exciting stuff and will have exciting events. 

BNLC and CBNA link up for New Year's Eve Daily Bread Drive 

Right before the new year The Black Nurses Leading Change communication ENO  Dwight Barrett along with Canadian Black Nursing  Alliance joined forces to help to volunteer at the dailyi bread.  Organized by York University CBNA President nursing student James Ehiagwina and U of T CBNA President Morayo Aladejana and with President and Founder of CBNA Ovie Onagbeboma all 3 with other nursing students volunteered at the daily bread food bank.  It was a wonderful experience.  

Monday Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.: Black Excellence featuring Vice-President of CNA Dr. Bukola Salami 

BNLC is excited  to host  a webinar with vice president of the Canadian Nursing Association, Dr. Bukola Salami.  Dr. Bukola is no stranger to BNLC as she attended our BNLC summer mix and mingle and gave a great speech.  This should be a great event!   To register for this event please click here:

Wednesday Feb. 19 at 7p.m. Black Excellence featuring Dr. Akeem Stewart

Strut Your Stuff feature of this month! 

For this month of Strut your Stuff, we feature James Ehiagwina. A third-year nursing student at York University and a Clinical Extern at SickKids, James' determination and passion for caring for people has extended beyond different areas. On top of studying, James is currently the Student Success Peer Mentor Lead at York University, as well as a student Senator Faculty of Health , and most  importantly, the president of CBNA-YorkU. To add to his plate, he is also a Kids Help Phone NYC Member. All  his hard work paid off when he was awarded the receiving the Youth Leadership Award from the Council of Nigerian Professionals Incorporation.  Kudos to you, James!  

Have you done or in the middle of accomplishing a major or minor goal?  Has there been a recent event in your career or education that you are proud of?  This is where you can strut your stuff!  In each newsletter, BNLC features one or two members who have made their own accomplishments and goals. We believe that no matter how big or small your accomplishment was, it is needs to be recognized because we as community need should recognize and celebrate our own achievements.
