Happy Nursing Week!

We are excited to launch the first quarterly newsletter for the RNAO Windsor-Essex Chapter. This issue shares updates on local advocacy, recent events, student activities, National Nursing Week, and opportunities to get involved with the Chapter.

RNAO's Annual General Meeting is happening May 28-29. An exciting part of the AGM is the opportunity for members to vote on the resolutions that determine the work priorities of RNAO in the coming year.

The WINDSOR-ESSEX Chapter is eligible to send eight consultation representatives to RNAO’s AGM on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in North York.

RNAO Windsor Essex is partnering with Chapter Sigma Tau Upsilon and the Mental Health Nurses Interest Group to address "Violence in Nursing". This online event Feb. 12 from 7:30-9:00 p.m. is open to all interested parties including RNs, NPs and student members of RNAO. We are fortunate to have Drs. Jim Brophy and Marg Keith, renowned researchers in this topic area as our keynote speakers.

The holiday season is upon us (how did THAT happen so fast?) and we are planning two get togethers in order to have some fun, get some fresh air, enjoy the lights of the season and have some treats before it gets too cold.

You may or may not know that Windsor-Essex won Chapter of the Year in this, the 100th anniversary year of RNAO. Representatives of the Chapter will be officially receiving the award for our members at the Assembly meeting in Toronto the end of November. 

We have been asked to put a video together for the celebration and are hoping that you can share pictures from past RNAO Windsor Essex events you've attended over the years to include in the presentation.

Windsor-Essex Pride Parade | RNAO.ca

Come join RNAO and the Rainbow Nursing Interest Group (RNIG) at the 2025 Windsor Pride Parade on Sunday, August 10.  

We will meet at a designated location at the parade staging area (exact location TBD and will be communicated closer to the date) so we can march together. We will hand out our Pride swag prior to the march, including RNAO Pride t-shirts.  Please note that you must register to march with us.

You may recall that it is the RNAO 100th anniversary this year. We have been asked to provide pictures from RNAO Windsor Essex events from as many years as we can for the AGM which is the end of this week! If you can scan any pictures and send them to [email protected] it would be greatly appreciated. They'll be collated and made into a poster!

Hello everyone

Unfortunately, we have had to cancel the Rock and Bowl event for this Saturday, May 17. We thought it would be fun but , it was tough to book given that one weekend was Mother's Day and the other the Victoria Day weekend. So...we will work to plan a BIGGER, BETTER event in the near future. 

We hope that you have felt more appreciated this week by your coworkers, patients and employers and continue to wish you a Happy Nursing Week.

Belated Happy Mother's Day and Happy Nursing Week to our members! While we all know that nursing and nurses should be acknowledged for their work in all sectors EVERYDAY, it is nice to pause and reflect on what we do amongst ourselves and to have recognition from the public every May. We are hopeful that you are coming to our Rock and Bowl event this coming Saturday night from 9:30 p.m.to 1 a.m. The cost is $20 and there will be door prizes and free appetizers.
