Dr. Rachel Elliott is a Limited Term Lecturer at the University of Windsor. Rachel is extremely passionate about promoting student success and ensuring a safe, effective learning environment in content-heavy courses. She has been an RNAO member since 2006, when she was an undergraduate nursing student at McMaster University. Her first RNAO AGM was as a consultation representative for the Sarnia-Lambton Chapter, where she successfully passed a resolution about youth suicide prevention that Rachel authored. Rachel just completed two terms as the Region 1 RNAO Board of Directors Representative, where the Windsor-Essex Chapter was awarded the ‘Chapter of the Year.’ Rachel is a prior Critical Care nurse and Sexual-Assault Nurse Examiner who has transitioned this clinical work into her research interests in violence prevention and integration of trauma-informed care into nursing practice. Her lab, @health_equity_nurse_research [instagram link] seeks to advance nursing knowledge by conducting research on practice-based questions to drive change. Rachel is an RNAO member because the organization is a powerful voice for change to advance health for nursing and Ontarians. Political action is so essential, yet often difficult for nurses to engage in when they are overworked and facing healthcare issues that affect their ability to do their jobs well. RNAO provides a united voice to advocate for the changes we need to advance health equity. Rachel is extremely proud to be an engaged member of the Windsor-Essex chapter in region 1.

I am a proud mom of four whose journey in healthcare began as a Personal Support Worker, later advancing to RPN, RN, and most recently earning my Master’s degree. My career has taken me from the frontline to leadership, and along the way I discovered a true passion for education and mentorship. Currently serving as a Clinical Scholar at Windsor Regional Hospital, I am dedicated to supporting and empowering new nurses, helping them build confidence and develop the same love for our profession that has guided my own path. I look forward to connecting with other professionals who share this vision of growth, collaboration, and excellence in nursing.
