SUMMARY:

Nursing Leadership and Policy Discussion Panel: Highlighting how nursing students can engage the sociopolitical aspect of nursing.  As the largest healthcare profession that consistently ranks the highest as the most trusted, nurses are uniquely positioned to shape healthcare policies. Unfortunately, nurses remain disturbingly underrepresented in many places where decisions are made. We hope that by hearing our two guest speakers' stories, experiences, and advice, you will be inspired to be the leader you are meant to be.

SPEAKERS:

    President & Chief Executive Officer West Nipissing General Hospital
     
  3. Sarah Gallie RN, MN
    Clinical Nurse Specialist at The Hospital for Sick Children
    Policy and Political Action Officer at The Pediatric Nurses Interest Group (PedNIG) with RNAO  

Participants will gain an appreciation of: 

  • RNAO's contribution to nursing and health policy
  • The importance of a collective voice in shaping health policy
  • The critical role nurses play in impacting healthy public policy
