TONIGHT! NSO x CANO Oncology Nursing Specialty Webinar

Posted on Feb. 3, 2022, 9:49 a.m.

Hello Nursing Students!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!! NSO is excited to offer nursing students a unique opportunity to connect with practising oncology nursing experts in their field! NSO is proud to announce the upcoming collaboration with the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO) – GTA Chapter that will take place on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Presenters:

·Shawne Gray RN BScN CON(C)

·Kassie Nguyen RN BN CON(c)

·Gayatre Maharaj, RN MN, CON(C), CHPCN(C)

·Sonali Kirshenbaum RN, MN

Speakers are certified oncology nurses, who practice in a variety of roles within the oncology settings and bring their valuable experiences applicable to students from all backgrounds. The webinar will include an array of topics including an overview of oncology nursing, CNA oncology specialty certification [CON(c)], resources for oncology nurses in Ontario, student discounts for oncology resources, and the CANO Learner Pathway. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the discussion.

CANO is a national organization for all Canadian Oncology nurses, with a vision of being an international nursing leader in cancer control. Many CANO members, who practice in Ontario, are also RNAO members.

Canadian Cancer Society indicates that 2 in 5 Canadians are expected to develop cancer during their lifetime. Therefore, it is beneficial for us nursing students to familiarize ourselves with cancer care and oncology nursing early on to better care for our patients. Hence, this is a great opportunity to network and understand the activities of oncology nurses! All the nursing students are invited and encouraged to ask questions, whether they are passionate about pursuing a career in the Oncology field, or simply want to have a better understanding of Oncology Nursing.
