The Nursing Students of Ontario (NSO), the student-governed interest group of the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO), represents and acts as a resource for Ontario's nursing students. It focuses on the needs, concerns and matters of the nursing student body.
NSO is looking for members to join its executive team for the 2018-2019 year. The following executive positions are open:
President (1 position)*
Vice president (1 position)**
Policy & political action executive network officer (1 position)
Membership executive network officer (1 position)
Communications executive network officer (1 position)
Committee coordinators (4 positions)
* The position of President requires at least one (1) year of experience on the NSO executive. Aside from duties listed in the role description, the NSO president will be a member of the RNAO Board of Directors. The first Board meeting will take place on Monday, June 11, 2018, 5:30-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, June 12, 2018, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Board meetings will also take place in October 2018, February 2019, and April 2019. Exact dates and times will be provided to the elected NSO president.
**The position of Vice President requires at least one (1) year of experience on the NSO executive.
Instructions
1. Read the descriptions of the NSO executive positions by clicking on the links provided above.
2. Fill in the nomination form by 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 (extended from Monday, May 21 since Monday is a statutory holiday). Please include an essay of no more than 300 words indicating why you wish to be elected to the NSO executive. This essay will be available to voters online.
3. You can campaign for your chosen executive position until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 27, 2018.
4. Voting will begin at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, May 28, 2018 and end at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, June 4, 2018. NSO members will be directed to a website for voting.
5. Results will be provided to NSO members on Tuesday, June 5, 2018.
6. Candidates must be Undergraduate Nursing Student Associate members in good standing with RNAO and be registered in an Ontario undergraduate nursing program for the 2018-2019 academic year.
