Posted on Oct. 15, 2021, 4:29 p.m.

Dear Nursing Students of Ontario,

Are you interested in learning more about best practice guideline development and evidence-based practice? Do you have experience working with persons experiencing diabetic foot complications in your clinical placement, or are you interested in understanding how you prevent and manage diabetes-related foot complications in your clinical practice?

The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) is looking to recruit a nursing student to join the expert panel for the Best Practice Guideline (BPG): Diabetic Foot Complications (3rd Edition) (working title). The purpose of this BPG is to provide nurses, other health providers, persons at risk of or living with diabetic foot complications and policymakers with evidence-based recommendations on the prevention and management of diabetes-related foot complications. Broadly, this guideline will cover recommendations that can apply to all domains of nursing practice, including clinical, administration, education, research, and policy, to assist nurses to become more comfortable, confident and competent when working with persons at risk of or experiencing diabetic foot complications.

The expert panel plays a key role in helping RNAO develop rigorous and robust BPGs that support evidence-based practice and the provision of high-quality care. If selected to be part of the expert panel, you will work alongside nurses, members of the interprofessional team and persons with lived experience to shape the purpose, scope and content of the BPG. The expert panel will carry out this work over the estimated timeframe of approximately 18 months.

If this opportunity is of interest to you, we invite you submit an application online by October 22, 2021. Additional details regarding the roles and responsibilities of the expert panel, and steps to submitting an application can be found here: https://myRNAO.ca/survey/expert-panel

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact co-leading Guideline Development Methodologists for this BPG, Deborah Flores at dflores@rnao.ca or Greeshma Jacob at gjacob@rnao.ca.

Thank you in advance for considering this opportunity. We look forward to reviewing applications and contacting selected applicants via email regarding next steps.

Sincerely,

The RNAO BPG team
