DNIG members are from diverse backgrounds and practise in a number of areas. What brings us together is a mutual interest in strengthening the nursing contribution to diabetes prevention, care and management of those living with diabetes. DNIG exists to support nurses with an interest in diabetes through education, networking opportunities and other supports.
While every week should be Nursing Week, DNIG is taking this unique opportunity to thank you for your tireless dedication to improve the health of clients and communities across Ontario.
While nurses contribute to the health of our society in quite diverse ways there is something fundamental that ties us together, that makes us nurses. That "something" is often debated but it is safe to say that nurses are the bedrock of any health-care system. Only a nurse understands what it means and what it takes to be a nurse, to serve others in their most vulnerable times, day after day.
The DNIG Special Projects in Diabetes Nursing will provide an opportunity to an RN who wishes to complete a special project focusing on diabetes.

We are grateful for all those members practicing in diabetes or with an interest in it. For those living with diabetes and those yet to live with it, having a nurse on their team changes that experience for the better. It is imperative that the nursing voice is strong as we do research, provide care and write policy for this disease that can have devastating consequences.
This is the final reminder for the Diabetes Nursing Interest Group Virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2023 on Thursday, November 30 at 7 p.m. During this virtual evening event, you'll meet your interest group executive and be updated on DNIG activities, vote on by-laws and be given time to voice your questions/concerns.

First of all, we celebrate World Diabetes Day every Nov. 14 – the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, who co-discovered insulin along with Charles Best in 1922. While we've come a long way since then, there is still very much to do. Thank you to all nurses who contribute in any way to the care of those living with diabetes
