Hello RNAO members,
Nurses need to get involved in the federal election as many underestimate the influence nurses can have in the government's overall strategy and policy-making decisions. It is nurses that are involved in every aspect of healthcare and the people who use it. There are many ways to get involved and RNAO has created a helpful resource, check out political action toolkit (https://rnao.ca/policy/political-action/political-action-information-kit).
RNAO has also put together a platform for the upcoming federal election, focusing on key healthcare, environmental, and social issues (https://rnao.ca/federal-election-2019). We encourage you to review this document and join RNAO in advocating for these important issues.
We also encourage you to get out there, speak with candidates, speak-out about the issues that matter to the health of Canadians, and have discussions that reinforce the high-quality knowledge, skill, and compassion our nurses bring to every aspect of Canadian healthcare. Here is a list of upcoming debates in ridings across the chapter. If interested in attending with other RNAO members, email the chapter at rnao.durhamnorthumberland@gmail.com for more details. Nursing students are welcome to attend as well.
