Invitation to meet with politicians

Posted on Dec. 2, 2020, 11:26 a.m.

Dear member,

Hope this email finds you well and want you to know that we are thinking of all of our members and nursing students as we continue to battle and work during this challenging time. RNAO remains a valuable resource and is there to support nurses in all practice settings…we are all in this together…and we will all get through this together!

RNAO also continues to be an active and strong voice speaking out about key issues during the pandemic. Plans are currently underway for RNAO’s 7th annual “Queen’s Park on the Road”, which is a great opportunity for nurses and nursing students to meet with politicians and bring forward concerns, stories, and examples from one’s practice or community to influence positive policy changes.

We are looking for members to participate and engage in upcoming meetings with politicians. This is a great way to get involved and be an advocate for those in our communities who are most vulnerable and impacted not only by the pandemic, but other healthcare disparities. “Queen’s Park on the Road” meetings will focus on RNAO’s two main policy issues: long-term care and opioid overdoses. Members will have an opportunity to take part in discussion about these important topics and share their knowledge and experiences with politicians. It is a great way to influence government decisions and make your voice heard!

If you are interested and would like to participate in a “Queen’s Park on the Road” meeting with other nursing members and politicians, please email rnao.durhamnorthumberland@gmail.com by December 4, 2020 @ 5:00pm to express your interest. Meetings will take place virtually (via Zoom) in the upcoming weeks (Mon – Fri; 8:30am-4:30pm) and will try to accommodate as many participants as possible. Please indicate in your email which area you live in as we will try to match members with their local politician.
