Happy Nursing Week and conference update

Hello fellow PeriAnesthesia Nurses,

I would like to start by saying Happy Nursing Week! I hope that everyone gets to celebrate this week with your fellow colleagues.

I do want to say how proud I am of our PeriAnesthesia nurses. It has not been easy these past few years. We have always been there to help out our colleagues in different areas of the hospital when they needed us the most. Our physical and mental health have been tested.

Now, our health-care priorities have shifted, and they are no longer only dedicated to surviving a pandemic. However, I feel that the overwhelming health-care burden is not shrinking but rather growing. The surgical backlog is now at an all-time high, and pressure can be felt within the perioperative/perianesthesia environments to decrease the backlog. Once again, PeriAnesthesia nurses are stepping up to the plate to conquer this backlog. Together we will continue to persevere and demonstrate our compassion and dedication toward those that require our help.

On a different note, our NAPANc conference starts on Saturday, May 13 and continues until Sunday, May 14. We have an amazing lineup of speakers. Please visit our dedicated conference website to view the agenda and any other information needed. We will be adding updates to the website throughout the week. This is the perfect place to refresh, refocus and renew.

There’s still time to register for the conference! The registration portal will close at 11:59 p.m. (23:59) this evening – Monday, May 8, 2023. To register, follow the link on the OPANA website.

I hope to see as many as I can in Ottawa. If you have any questions, please let us know.
