Save the Date Sept, 26, 2026 – DNIG Members to visit Banting House (London, Ont.))

Posted on June 9, 2026, 9:40 a.m.

Hello DNIG membership,

Just wanted to send out an early notice for saving the date on Sept. 26, 2026 for a DNIG member visit to Banting House in London, Ont. We plan to attend a tour and have lunch afterwards.

FYI: Banting House National Historic Site in London, Ontario, is often referred to as the "Birthplace of Insulin." It was in this house that Dr. Sir Frederick Banting conceived the idea that ultimately led to the discovery of insulin on Oct. 31, 1920. This groundbreaking discovery transformed diabetes from a fatal disease into a manageable condition for millions of people worldwide.

Today, Banting House operates as a museum that celebrates Banting's life, the discovery of insulin and the ongoing impact of diabetes. The site also features the Flame of Hope, which symbolizes the search for a cure and will remain lit until one is found.

For anyone interested in diabetes history, Canadian medical achievements or a meaningful day trip, Banting House offers a unique opportunity to connect with the legacy of a discovery that continues to save lives every day.

We will send out further details in the coming months.

Yours sincerely,

DNIG executive members
