NPIG Pulse :Updates from NPIG

Posted on March 6, 2026, 9:48 a.m.

Dear NPIG Members,

It has been a productive and exciting year for the Nurse Practitioner Interest Group (NPIG) as we continue strengthening opportunities for professional development, mentorship, and policy engagement for nurse practitioners across Ontario.

Over the past year, NPIG has contributed to several initiatives aimed at supporting NP leadership, collaboration, and professional growth.

Highlights include:

  • Co-hosting a Legal Assistance Program / Professional Liability Protection (LAP/PLP) webinar for members.
  • Supporting engagement in the RNAO NP Knowledge Exchange Symposium held November 28, 2025, which showcased the impact of nurse practitioner practice, research, and leadership across Ontario.
  • Participation in the RNAO Annual General Meeting held May 29–30, 2025, marking a historic milestone as RNAO celebrated its 100th AGM.
  • Engagement during RNAO’s Queen’s Park activities, including attending the Assembly of Leaders, participating in the Interest Group meetings, and supporting the Black Nurses Leading Change (BNLC) social event on February 28, 2026.
  • Planning upcoming programming including the NPIG Mentorship Webinar and preparations for the RNAO NP Institute, a key forum for clinical learning, leadership development, and knowledge exchange among nurse practitioners.

NPIG also continues to participate in consultation and policy discussions related to evolving nurse practitioner standards and scope of practice, ensuring the perspectives and experiences of practicing NPs inform the future direction of our profession.

As Ontario’s health system continues to evolve, nurse practitioners remain essential leaders in improving access to care and advancing health system innovation. NPIG remains committed to strengthening the collective voice of NPs and supporting advocacy that advances the full utilization and leadership of nurse practitioners across the province.

Warm regards,

Veronica Segbedzie, NP-PHC
