Answers to your questions: Proposed CTNIG Provincial Interest Group status

Posted on July 26, 2020, 10:44 a.m.

Dear members,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the possibility of the Complementary Therapies Nurses’ Interest Group (CTNIG) becoming an RNAO Provincial Interest Group.

The following are the answers to CTNIG member questions and concerns about the proposed change to the status of our interest group:

  • Can student members vote on the proposed status change? Answer: Yes, while undergraduate nursing students, associates, and friends of RNAO are not voting members of RNAO, all CTNIG members are eligible to vote in this CTNIG poll.
  • Would membership include retired nurses? Answer: Yes, retired nurses in CTNIG who are members of RNAO would continue to be members if CTNIG becomes a Provincial Interest Group.
  • How many people would be excluded if we made the switch to be voting members? Of those who would then be excluded, what are their main backgrounds? Answer: CTNIG does not have external members outside of RNAO.
  • What would more finances allow us to do? Answer: Additional finances will allow a greater number of our CTNIG members to attend and participate in RNAO events (e.g. RNAO AGM, Queen's Park Day). RNAO provides additional financial support for the expenses of Provincial Interest Group members to attend RNAO events (e.g. hotel fees, parking expenses). This would allow us to redirect our CTNIG funds to the other needs of our interest group and to grow our membership.
