Shoutout to Dania Versailles for her role in "Evolution of Black Mental Health in Canada" webinar
On March 27, our very own past president Dania Versailles took part in a great panel discussing mental health in Black communities. The event was successful, creating a lot of great dialogue and awareness. Thank you, Dania, for not only participating in such a great webinar, but also for being a voice and representing us.
UPCOMING EVENT! April 17th Diversity Equality and Inclusion Webinar with Patrick Dubsabimana and BNLC Chair Lori Zozzolotto:
As requested by our members, on Wednesday, April 17 BNLC will be hosting our webinar, "Diversity Equality and Inclusion", featuring guest speakers Patrick Dubsabimana and BNLC Chair Lori Zozzolotto. In this webinar we will continue to understand the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) work to create a sense of belonging.
Patrick Dubsabimana will join us to discuss how incorporating DEI promotes an environment where everyone can grow and find opportunity. Patrick is a passionate health-care leader with clinical, administrative and project management experience. Patrick has an extensive education experience in Health Sciences and management, and is finishing up a master of science degree in project management with a strong focus of success of clinical projects in hospital settings.
Lori Zozzolotto , the president of the Black Nurses Leading Change Interest Group will cover importance of conflict management and resolution for nurses. Lori has been a nurse for more than 15 years and currently works as a clinical specialist for Convatec Canada. She is also the development officer at the Ontario Black Nurses’ Network, participates actively in the NSWOCC national diversity task force, and is a member of the steering committee of a 2SLGBTQI+ employment resource group that supports diversity in her workplace. Most recently, Lori co-founded an Ostomy Canada support group in her town to support ostomates.

Nursing Week 2024 - upcoming events!
BNLC is excited to be hosting two webinars during Nursing Week:
On Tuesday, May 7 we will be hosting a "Black Men in Nursing" webinar. This should be great exciting and offer a different perspective on nursing from a black man’s experience. Stay tuned for more information and the registration link.
On Thursday, May 9, BNLC is excited to host a webinar with Dr. Farah Laurent. Dr. Laurent – who recently finished her PhD – is an accomplished nurse career coach who focuses on helping nurses both new and old with coaching through their career, assisting with interviews and ensuring they maximize their experience as a nurse. Dr. Claudette Holloway joins us a our new Board of Liaison!
The Black Nurses Leading Change Committee is thrilled to announce that RNAO president Dr. Claudette Holloway has agreed to be our Board of Liaison during its term position. This is exciting for not only us but also our members as Dr. Holloway's outstanding knowledge and background will help guide us in our vision and goal. Dr. Holloway, we are so excited for you to join us!
