Dear NPIG Members,

May I start by acknowledging our NP colleagues who are currently busy caring for the public during this stressful COVID19 pandemic.  Keep up the great work and keep yourselves safe as well. As well, my heart goes out to our up and coming NP’s, the current students.  Hang in there, I hope that your studies will not be interrupted in such a way as to postpone you joining our workforce.

The purpose of this email is to let you know we are establishing a closed facebook group for our NPs. With respect to the FaceBooK Group, I am hoping that this venue will offer a new way to keep in touch with each other.  I have learned the hard way, of how difficult it is to connect with our NP colleagues, as I too have a busy practice setting, and I live a good distance from Toronto.  May distance not set us apart. At least not in this day and age; a time in which we can use technology to connect.  I believe we all have great ideas, and I have witnessed how our colleagues spend time ruminating about changes that would benefit the role of the Nurse Practitioner.  I volunteered as Chair in order to become involved and to become more aware of how we can participate through our membership with RNAO.  I will admit, that the physical distance from the RNAO hub and bustle leave me feeling distant, and I feel as though I may not be contributing.  Yet, if I am not alone in this sentiment, I hope that the Facebook Group can provide a sense of cohesiveness for us.  I wish that we may learn from each other, work together towards solutions and stand together on common practice issues.

I want to thank Hoodo for taking on administrative leadership for the NPIG Facebook group.  Remember, we will keep this group private and only allow NPIG paid members access. I also want to thank Beth Sweeney for her support, and in keeping me to the tasks.  Again, welcome to the FaceBook Group! I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Cheers,

Sally Baerg NP-PHC, MSc, MScN
