Message from your president:

Happy Summer!  I hope this newsletter finds you all well and happy and finding joy at work these days.  What a change the current government has handed us!  I am encouraging you all to register for Doris Grinspun’s webinar regarding Ontario Health Teams to learn more about how primary care nurses can engage in this change.  You can register here: https://rnao.ca/events/ontario-health-teams-positioning-nursing-shine

For the first time, PCNO our AGM at the annual RNAO AGM in the spring; it was well attended, informative and gave us all a chance to network and discuss issues relevant to primary care with current and new members and with Minister Christine Elliott.  She was receptive to the importance of our role in system transformation and redesign.

Did you know that nurses working in primary care make up 10% of RNAOs membership? This means we have the opportunity to be a force for positive change and influence as the OHTs are formed.  Do you have a colleague who you think might want to join PCNO to advocate and promote our roles? Please forward this newsletter on; we would love to meet them and add their voices!

Are you wanting to explore an exciting opportunity? Think about joining the PCNO executive.  We have the following executive positions open: Communications, Membership and Treasurer. No experience necessary, just a willingness to promote and advocate for our roles in primary care.  Click here: https://chapters-igs.rnao.ca/interestgroup/48/email/864

I’m curious, how is your organizational culture? How are you experiencing your role as a primary care nurse? Tweet us @PCNO_RNAO or post on our Facebook page and let us know.  We will follow you and retweet or repost!

Please reach out if you’d like to talk. We’d love to hear from you.

Warmly,

Sheena

PS.
Incase you missed this years RNAO AGM, our very own Past President Judie Surridge is featured in the RNJ this month! Thank you, Judie for the paving the way for us in primary care. We owe you a debt of gratitude! Check out PCNOs founding member profile here.
