Inquiry re: the receipt of "Alone Together”  pins for RN members of the CTNIG

Posted on Aug. 21, 2021, 11:10 a.m.

Dear RN members of the RNAO-CTNIG

In the spring, CTNIG sent out a pin “Alone Together” (see below) created by Micheline Montgomery to our RN members as a token of our our appreciation for the challenges you have had to deal with in your nursing practice and personal lives created by the COVID 19 pandemic.

If by any chance you did not receive one in the mail, we would like to hear from you so we can investigate this with the RNAO mailing service.

Please include your name, address and RNAO number in your email reply to darka_neill@dalesfordrd.com

Please note, these were only sent out to our RN members.

Regards,

Darka Neill

I worked as a nurse in the time of SARS. My experience during SARS led me to create a series of paintings about the challenges nurses faced as frontline workers.

Now 17 years later, I feel that health care professionals are risking their lived to save ours.

At one point, they were forced to reuse potentially contaminated masks or patch together makeshift ones.

The mask in the painting “Alone Together” is made from a coffee filter collaged with words from newspaper articles about COVID 19.

I do not have a better medium than my art to express my profound sadness for the situation the health care workers are experiencing today as they battle against COVID 19.
