It's beginning to look a lot like.....

Dear Peel Chapter Members,

As 2021 draws to a close, we sit at 22 months of a pandemic that is not going away.  These are challenging times, and our professional association is leading the way to optimize nursing and health care.

Chapter updates

In November, our Assembly of Leaders met for their fall session.

Updates from various chapters and interest groups revealed several activities showcasing the importance of the RN role carried out by the president, board of directors and the chief executive officer. These activities show that we continue to influence recruitment, practice, policy and the well-being of registered nurses (RN), undergraduate nursing students, and nurse practitioners (NP).

Also, the media coverage to #RepealBill124 continues. Please sign the Action Alert if you haven't already!

In Peel Chapter our contributions are to keep our social media platforms up to date. On Facebook and Instagram, you will find posts of interest. See, for example, a news article in the Brampton Guardian for which Paula Manuel was interviewed. She talked about “the effects of the pandemic on her colleagues, how long hours, understaffing and a prolonged emergency situation have worn nurses down. She added, “Seeing people die on a regular basis is really tough too. People are walking away.”

Looking forward to 2022

Next year, Peel Chapter will be restructured. This means three new chapters will be formed to cover Mississauga, Brampton and Dufferin-Caledon. As an individual member, you don’t have to change anything. But for members who are keen, this will create more opportunities to serve on executives; our chapter is well served by committed individuals who also know how to have fun. We’ll provide more details as we learn more about the transition.

There is also more to come on activities of the Peel Chapter, and on Queen's Park on the Road (QPOR). We will be extending meetings with MPPs into January 2022 to discuss the RN Human Resources Crisis. If you're interested in QPOR or have questions or other feedback, please email us at rnaopeel@gmail.com

Happy holidays from the Peel Chapter!

Fatigue is very real and we do hope you can find time to rest and restore this holiday season. All the best for 2022 - we are indeed in turbulent times. May your blessings outnumber your troubles.

Regards,

Peel Chapter Executive
