Dear member,
This email is to inform you of the RNAO Board of Directors' decision to put forward to One member One vote an amendment to the RNAO Bylaws 3.0 regarding regional boundaries. The proposed bylaw change will have a major impact on our chapter. This amendment will lead to the formation of four new chapters: Brampton, Mississauga, York East and York West. Peel Chapter will no longer exist.
The purpose is to align chapter and region boundaries with Ontario’s provincial electoral districts with the hope of consistently and clearly aligning the organization of RNAO’s membership with the political activities of the Association. A map of the proposed boundaries can be found here: https://myrnao.ca/maps/boundary-realignment-proposal/. The full bylaw amendment can be found here
Action:
There is a scheduled interactive discussion with our CEO Doris and our Board President Angela on Tuesday April 21st at 6pm. Please register for this important Webinar - Proposed Bylaw Amendments to Regions
The proposed amendments are to be presented to members for their approval through One Member One Vote between May 26 to June 11, 2020. Results will be released at the upcoming Annual General Meeting on June 12, 2020.
We have requested that RNAO defer the vote until the 2021 AGM in order for members to have an opportunity to learn more about the change, benefits of our current structure (Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon) and other possible options to achieve the same ends. Given the current pandemic of COVID-19, all of our resources at this time are being directed to flattening the curve and providing care to individuals and communities. This bylaw is a major change, especially for our chapter, and we feel that this is not the appropriate time to bring this bylaw change to a vote.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out to our team at rnaopeel@gmail.com
Sincerely,
Peel Chapter Executive Team
