We are pleased to share some amazing news from Canadian Association of Paediatric Nurses (CAPN)!
In collaboration with the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), CAPN has been engaged in creating the first Paediatric Nursing Certification Exam that will be ready for the first group to sit in November, 2019. Nurses may register to sit the exam between June 27 and September 30. Nurses who are members of CNA will receive a discounted price on the cost of the exam and CAPN members will receive a further discount of 20%. CAPN will be offering a preparation workshop on Sunday, October 27th in Toronto.
This one day intensive workshop will prepare participants to be successful in writing the Pediatric Nursing Specialty Certification Exam. You will learn from a faculty of highly experienced pediatric nurses. This course addresses exam preparation approaches and skills and key areas covered in the exam blue print including Professional Practice, Leadership and Advocacy, Child and Family Centred Care, Growth and Development, Pediatric Nursing Process, Promotion of Well-Being and Prevention of Illness and Injury, Common Pediatric Illnesses and Conditions, Common Pediatric Emergencies, Children with Medical Complexity, Genetic and Congenital Conditions, Palliative Care, Mental Health and Substance Use, Pain, Transitions in Care. Content will be geared to preparing you to be confident and successful in writing the exam.
Workshop Objectives:
At the end of this course participants will:
- Describe where to focus their exam preparation by helping to identify areas that need further study prior to writing the certification exam.
- Enhance content knowledge and approaches to problem solving.
- Develop successful strategies for answering multiple choice questions to increase confidence.
- Interpret the pediatric nursing standards, pediatric nursing competencies, and examination blueprint
Workshop Participants will receive:
- One full day of live presentations
- Opportunity to engage with expert faculty
- List of priority information and key resources
- A light breakfast, refreshment breaks and lunch will be provided.
