Selvi is a dedicated nurse working in long term care. She has had many diverse roles throughout her nursing career from staff nurse, community nurse, clinical educator and assistant director of care. She is currently a long term care manager at a large not-for-profit nursing home. She is passionate about gerontology and palliative care. During her spare time, she volunteers as a mentor for people living with MS. Her interests includes reading, listening to music, writing poetry and designing jewellery. Selvi is looking forward to serving as your current president/chair for 2024/2025.
Sonia Chin a Public Health Nurse and a member and BOD for RNAO’s Region 7. She have served as the Communications Executive Officer, Assembly Representative and President for the Region. She is interested in supporting her Region to continue to advocate for healthy public policy, promote excellence in nursing practice and empower nurses to actively influence what affects the profession and the public we serve. She is proud to be a member of RNAO who believe that health care is a universal human right and are committed to diversity, inclusivity, equity, social justice and democracy. She believes nurses are leaders who advocate and deliver health through evidence informed practice. She appreciates RNAO’s local and global impact through Best Practice guidelines. Yet, there is more work to be done to attain planetary health that includes attention to environmental issues and how that impacts health. Along her nursing career path, she has learned to appreciate the art of listening to colleagues and clients and how that can transform into healthier relationships towards better understanding of individuals and groups. She believes above all, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and student nurses need to stand together in order for our voices to be heard and that our actions will achieve a healthier world for all.
Ramesh is an Asst. Professor at the school of nursing, York University. Ramesh is an internationally Educated Nurse (IEN) with more than 30 years of experience in Clinicals, Teaching, Research, and Community Service gained at various institutions in India, Oman, and Canada. Ramesh has been a critical care nurse, an ICU RN, and a clinical practice leader in the ICU. He holds a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science degree, and a doctoral degree in nursing. He is the Coordinator of the Internationally Educated Nurses BScN Program and the Undergraduate Program Director of 4-year direct entry BSc Nursing at York University, Ontario.
Eram is passionate about nursing and medicine, but most importantly, about making pivotal changes for the profession and the world. Most of her work is inspired by her late father. She has had various experiences in education, ER trauma, critical care, anesthesia, cardiology, and vascular. She has an interest in volunteer work, writing, and different cultures. She will be your membership liaison for 2024-2025.
Arpita Roy is currently in her third year of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Georgian College, where she is actively serving as a peer mentor, and working as the president of the Nursing Students’ Association. Her journey so far has been a whirlwind of learning, leading, and loving everything about nursing! From advocating for nursing students as the Communication and Public Relation Officer of NSO to navigating the exciting world of Student Liason, she has cherished every moment of her journey. This year, she was honored to receive the RNAO Student of Distinction Award, which was a huge milestone for her. It’s been a rewarding experience to be recognized for her contributions to nursing advocacy and leadership. Her passion for policy and advocacy took her all the way to Queen’s Park, where she participated in RNAO’s student placement program—an experience that deepened her commitment to making a real impact in our profession. As she steps into this new role with the NSO, her vision is to amplify your voices, and showcase the amazing work we do as future nurses. She is all about creating vibrant connections and ensuring that our collective efforts make a real impact. Her goal is to keep you informed, engaged, and inspired throughout our term together.
Lily is a nursing student entering her final year at York University with a passion for pediatric and public nursing. She has a profoundly caring, empathetic and loving nature and wishes to make a healthful difference in the lives of patients throughout a lifelong career. Her long-term goal aspires to be a leader and mentor in the healthcare community that exemplifies integrity, compassion and advances in nursing through innovation, advocacy and technology.
