DNIG Executive Network Officers (ENO) Election June 1-14

Second Call for Nominations

Elected for 2 years, max 2 terms

 

In odd numbered years, members shall elect the president/chair, communications ENO, finance ENO, and membership ENO.

In even numbered years, members shall elect the social media, policy and political action, student liaison ENO and workplace liaison ENO. We currently do not have a workplace ENO as members are spread across the province and contributing to excellence in diabetes care in a variety of positions.

Policy and Political Action ENO

Policy and Political Action Executive ENO manual

  • Represent DNIG on RNAO Policy & Political Action teleconferences and at RNAO Assembly/Queen’s Park Day (February).
  • Facilitate member participation in Queens Park on the Road, Take Your MPP to work.
  • Seek opportunities for DNIG to be politically active on issues relevant to the objectives of the organization including providing a strong voice for nursing during elections, (e.g.: connect with candidates; organize health-care all candidate debates).
  • Coordinate policy and/or political action relevant to the DNIG.

Social Media & Information Technology ENO

  • Maintain the group’s social media presence: maintain DNIG website/RNAO IG page; Twitter account, Facebook Page
  • Reach out to members to engage them in DNIG’s online activities.
  • Ensure materials are available for the purpose of promoting DNIG at AGM and workshops and conferences.

Student ENO

Student liaisons are undergraduate nursing students playing a leadership role within RNAO.

  • Connect to nursing student community to promote RNAO and diabetes nursing
  • Provide student perspective at executive meetings and contribute to DNIG activities such as newsletter, website and projects.
  • Attend the RNAO AGM and Student lunch, subject to DNIG funding.

Eligibility Requirements for DNIG Student Representative

Be an undergraduate student in a registered nursing program in an Ontario University

Submit a letter of intent to the DNIG executive regarding your reasons for wanting to join the DNIG executive

Hold the position for one RNAO membership year (November to October). May be eligible to extend for a second year.

Attend at least two executive meetings by teleconference and be eligible for DNIG funding to attend the RNAO AGM in person (held in April/May annually).

Provide input to DNIG executive on relevant diabetes issues from a student’s perspective.

Promote DNIG and RNAO with fellow nursing students: s) directly within their own faculty/school of nursing, and b) indirectly by liaising with the Nursing Students of Ontario Interest Group (NSO),

Contribute articles (300 words approx.) to the DNIG newsletter up to 3 times per year. (Offer stories on student involvement /perspective on diabetes related issues.

Assist executive members with other interest group activities as requested.
