Dear GNAO members,

Happy March!

We can't believe how quickly time is flying by. In about a month, we will be gathering in Niagara Falls for our provincial conference. In the meantime, we have plenty of news to share with you, including opportunities for funding, a callout for posters, and other upcoming events.

EXTENDED EARLY BIRD RATE

We have extended our early-bird rate until March 12, 2018. You still have time to snag this great rate and join us for a day full of engaging and inspiring discussions with gerontological nursing leaders and collaborators across Ontario. Please feel free to distribute the attached poster about this upcoming conference among your colleagues and peers.

Visit our conference website for more details on registration at: gnaontario.org/2018-conference

If you have any issues registering for the conference, please contact Maureen Shantz at maureen.shantz@gmail.com

We have reserved a limited number of rooms with The Embassy Suites by Hilton Niagara Fallsview for this conference. Please be advised the special rate for these rooms is available until March 19, 2018.

CONFERENCE POSTER CALL

GNAO is looking for poster presentations for our 2018 Biennial Conference. Those who are interested are asked to consider bringing a table-top display showcasing something you’d like to share with other provincial conference attendees during the Thursday evening reception and/or Friday’s refreshment breaks.

Presentations can highlight an innovation, a research project, an educational offering, etc. We will have a limited number of small tri-fold display boards* on tables.

A summary of your presentation will appear in our programme, and you are welcome to bring handouts.

If you're interested, email Esther Coker at coker@HHSC.ca by Monday, April 2, 2018 with the following information:

  1. Title of presentation
  2. Authors
  3. A brief summary of your topic (approximately 100 words)

(*dimensions: width= 39in (98cm) total [i.e., 19.9 in (50.6 cm) centre panel and two 9.6in (24.6 cm) side panels] x height= 27.3in/69.5cm) Suitable for displaying eight 8.5x11 pages portrait style, for example.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS

GNAO is excited to offer sponsorship to Ontario nursing students planning to attend our spring conference. Sponsorship funds are limited and applications will be awarded to qualifying candidates on a first come, first served basis. To qualify, you must be an Ontario undergraduate nursing student (with preference given to GNAO student members).

The conference is a great opportunity for nursing students to meet leaders in the field of geriatrics, interact with a nursing interest group and its members, and see what's new in the field.

Apply via email to aces@my.yorku.ca by March 12, 2018, stating your interest and which post-secondary institution you attend.

Please be sure to check out our website gnaontario.org and follow us on social media for all of the latest conference updates.
