Gigi van den Hoef RN Prescriber, MHS, BSc, CCRP
Gigi has been actively involved in the field of Parkinson’s disease since 2015. Her first role as a nurse in independent practice was as a Duodopa Nurse Specialist, supporting movement disorder neurologists in Ottawa and Toronto with clinical research related to Duodopa therapy. During her Master’s studies (2016–2019) and coursework through the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) in 2020, she focused extensively on Parkinson’s disease.
Since 2016, Gigi has also provided care for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease outside of the public healthcare system. She is a dedicated advocate for both clients and caregivers, contributing her expertise through Nurse On Board and nursing specialty groups. Gigi has served on the Medical Advisory Board for Parkinson Canada and contributed to the development of the second edition of the Canadian Guidelines for Parkinson’s Disease.
