Dear PedNIG members:
As you may know, In recent months there has been a public health crisis of vaping and e-cigarette use by Ontario youth. Vaping among Canadian youth (ages 16-19) has increased a staggering 74% between 2017 and 2018, with a severe case of vaping associated lung disease occurring in a 17 year old male in London, ON earlier this year which has been prominent in the media.
As Paediatric Registered Nurses we know that the risks of vaping and e-cigarette use such as lung damage, nicotine addiction, exposure to harmful chemicals, and altered brain development are significant and jeopardizing the health of this vulnerable population that we care for. Please join us in advocating for tighter regulation by supporting PedNIG's policy resolution to ban all advertisements and vaping flavours that are designed to appeal youth in Ontario.
Vote closes on December 9th.
