GNAO Greater Hamilton Area Chapter September 18, 2019 Education Event

GNAO Greater Hamilton Area Chapter members, 

Mark your calendars for our fall education event on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 6:30pm. We are pleased to welcome a team from Behavioural Supports Ontario to present “Providing Behavioural Support for Older Adults.”

CNA Certification Program: Discount Voucher

CGNA members are entitled to a 20% discount voucher for writing a CNA certification exam or renewing their certification.  

To request your voucher, kindly click the "Register" button and complete the request form.  On the "Review and Confirm" page, be sure to click "Confirm."  You will receive the discount code via email after your request has been verified.  

The discount voucher is available only to members of CGNA. You must log into your membership account to claim the code.

Canadian Nurses Association – Certification

Apply between now and September 30 to write an exam this November to obtain or renew your specialty certification. Two new specialty certifications are available: pediatrics for registered nurses and nurse practitioners and gerontology for licensed/registered practical nurses. https://www.cna-aiic.ca/en/certification

Gerontological Nursing Certification | Study Group Webinars (CGNA Members)

The Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association is pleased to offer a 9-week study group for Registered Nurses and Practical Nurses for the gerontological nursing certification exam.  

Before registering, please be sure to review the schedule of webinars.  All webinars take place 12pm-1pm Eastern time.  

Live webinars are $20 each for CGNA members and $30 each for non-members.  

The recorded webinars will be available free-of-charge to CGNA members after each webinar.  

CGNA Members: To receive the discounted pricing, you must register with the email address associated with your membership.  

Non-Members: If you are not a member, please register for the webinars here OR join the CGNA!  

GNAO Greater Hamilton Area Chapter Education Bursary due October 2019

Please consider applying by Friday, October 18, 2019 for the chapter’s Education Bursary. This fund was developed to "enhance the scholarships and clinical capabilities of our members”. You can apply for an individual awards or funding for an educational program or resource. Please find the Education Bursary application attached. And mark your calendars as we will have another call for applications in April 2020.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN - 2019 Toronto Geriatrics Update Course – November 1-2, 2019

Sinai Health System and the University Health Network's 7th Annual Toronto Geriatrics Update Course is taking place on Friday November 1st and Saturday November 2nd at the Michener Institute, 222 St. Patrick St., Toronto, ON 

The annual Geriatrics Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Course has been designed to provide front-line practitioners with the latest practical and evidence-based knowledge they need to better manage the care of their older patients. This two-day CPD Course will feature high quality/interactive lectures, workshops and small group sessions that focus on the assessment and management of geriatric syndromes and common issues that arise in the care of an older patient.
