The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO), in partnership with PointClickCare, is launching an exciting and timely initiative to build capacity and promote clinical excellence in the long-term care (LTC) sector. A key deliverable for this initiative is the integration of the following Best Practice Guideline (BPGs) within PointClickCare (PCC) in the form of BPG Order Sets to support standardized and evidence-informed assessments and care planning:

  • Person- and Family-Centred Care
  • Assessment and Management of Pain (3rd ed.)
  • Preventing Falls and Reducing Injury from Falls (4th ed.)
  • A Proactive Approach to Bladder and Bowel Management in Adults (4th ed.)
  • Assessment and Management of Pressure Injuries
  • Delirium, Dementia, and Depression in Older Adults: Assessment and Care (2nd ed.)

We are currently recruiting senior nurses (RNs and RPNs) in the LTC sector to participate in the working groups that will be tasked with:

  • Validating the workflows of the interprofessional team for each of these BPGs;
  • Providing feedback on the design of the BPG Order Sets within PCC; and
  • Conducting user testing of the BPG Order Sets prior to deployment.

Each working group will meet virtually on a weekly basis for 1-2 hours/week in June while validating the workflows. Once the order sets have been incorporated within PCC the working groups will be reconvened as needed in July–Dec 2021 to provide feedback on the design and to conduct user testing.

If you would like to be considered for one of these working groups, please send an email indicating your preferred group (e.g., falls BPG working group) along with a letter of support from your employer and a copy of your resume no later than June 4, 2021 to Rita Wilson (rwilson@RNAO.ca) and copy Erica D’Souza (edsouza@RNAO.ca). If you have any questions, please email Rita at your earliest convenience.

Thank you kindly for your consideration of this opportunity.

Rita
